Resolutions & Changes For The New Year

This is just a brief note to wish you and yours the very best during this holiday season. As I sit here in my somewhat messy office, recovering from the festivities of the past week (gift-opening, dinner-making and eggnog-drinking come immediately to mind) I feel thankful to live and work in a space that I love so much.

In 2009, my resolution is to continue providing you with more ways to make your space your ally, just as I feel mine is. Upcoming newsletters will help you create a home that restores, nourishes and supports you, so you feel ideally situated to achieve your most cherished goals.

My Favorite New Piece of Furniture

In the spirit of year-end roundups, I’ve been reflecting on the changes/improvements I made to my space during 2008.  We replaced some 100-year-old windows, got new rugs for the bedroom, and replaced our rectangular dining table with a round one, but I have to admit that my favorite new thing is my black leather filing cabinet.

Here are a couple of photos.

The top one shows the cabinet tucked conveniently under my desk, but the second photo shows why I really love it — I’m using the top drawer for blank paper, the middle one for cables I use all the time (like my Ipod & camera hookups), and the bottom drawer for files I like having easy access to, including files for computer passwords and projects I’m working on.

It’s really not to much to say that this file cabinet has changed my life for the better.  I hope you’ve had similar successes this year, too.

Happy holidays!

Feng Shui in NYC

Feng Shui is everywhere.  Part of what I want to demonstrate in this blog is how it shows up in places where you might least expect it, fulfilling its function of making us feel safer, more comfortable, and more interested in our surroundings.

In businesses for example, it’s very important to have a welcoming entrance.  Here’s a wonderful example of a great “Feng Shui entrance” that I noticed last week at the Roger Hotel at the corner of 31st and Madison Ave.

We were walking down 33rd St., two blocks away, when we saw this corner, glowing in the distance.  We just had to walk over and find out what it was all about — and that’s the point of great business Feng Shui: to attract customers!  The interior lobby is just as welcoming.  We plan to return for a cocktail quite soon :)
