Bad License Plate Feng Shui

I came across this license plate on our recent travels and felt a chill pass over me:

Bad license plate Feng Shui.

Yes, I would have to agree.

Sending this message to themselves, to everyone around them, and to the universe itself is probably not going to help to bring the abundance into this driver’s life that I suppose they must be seeking!

What do you think: am I taking this too seriously?   Or would this bother you, too?

More Bad Feng Shui For Kids

When I came across this photo in a magazine recently, I recoiled in horror:

Bad Feng Shui for Kids

Scary!!

Giant animals, aggressive colors, busy patterns: this nursery is almost certainly guaranteed to give the infant twins who sleep here nightmares. Bad Feng Shui indeed.

I wouldn’t recommend it for adults, either ;)

What do YOU think — would you have wanted to grow up with this on your nursery walls?

More About Mirrors In Bedrooms

The questions keep pouring in about how mirrors affect you in your bedroom, and why Feng Shui advises against them.

Feng Shui: mirror by the bed

Here’s an extreme example of the problem.

This bedroom has other Feng Shui challenges — no bedside lighting, for example — but the big (I mean BIG) issue is that giant mirror, reflecting everything that goes on in the bed.

On top of that, the cold, hard energy of the mirror spoils the Yin atmosphere that’s ideal in a bedroom by reflecting and magnifying any light in the room, and echoing sounds, besides.

Here’s another example — can you guess what makes this one just slightly better? (See if you can figure it out before you scroll down.)

Feng Shui: mirror in bedroom

Wow - that

Yes — it’s the curtains on the bed, which can be drawn to protect sleepers from the mirror’s hard energy during the night.

If your bedroom includes mirrors that can’t be removed — mirrored closet doors, for instance — install a curtain over them that you can close at night.

You’ll sleep better, I guarantee it.

Bad Feng Shui for Kids

Have you ever noticed a change in your child’s behavior when the color or decor of their room has changed? Feng Shui has some ideas about that — let’s take a look.

Here’s some Bad Feng Shui in a model home I recently visited, with the child’s room set up like so:

Bad Feng Shui in a child's bedroom.

It's crowded in here!

This room is packed with animals. I count twelve stuffed animals (I might have missed a few), plus painted animals on furniture and wall hangings, animals in the curtains and bed linens, and animal prints on the easy chair!

The giant giraffe alone is nightmarish.

Don’t get me wrong, stuffed animals are wonderful companions, but in Feng Shui it’s key that a child’s room feel safe, private, and roomy. This child may well feel differently.

Here’s a very different, equally disturbing way to go:

Bad Feng Shui in a child's room.

Intense colors = hyperactive child?

The vibrant primary colors here make great sense for a playroom where activity is encouraged, but in the bedroom a quieter mood needs to prevail to encourage rest and relaxation.

Softer Yin shades create a wonderful bedroom environment for a child. Good Feng Shui colors for a child’s bedroom include soft green to encourage growth and development and soft yellow for a sense of stability and groundedness.

What do you think? What changes have you you noticed when your child’s room decor has changed?

Bad Feng Shui for Businesses

It’s time for a Bad Feng Shui update, this time for businesses who might want to pay more attention to the Feng Shui of their public presentations!

Bad Feng Shui in the Entryway
Here’s a real, live entrance to a medical office, a place you need and expect to be pristinely clean. Patients arriving here will not be comforted by their first impression of dirt and trash:

A very unwelcoming entryway!

A dirty, unwelcoming entryway.

One possible solution? A moveable row of bushy plants on wheels that allows the maintenance crew to do their job while screening arriving patients and medical professionals from the filth and grime.

A Logo with Bad Feng Shui
When I first saw this real-estate broker’s sign I literally thought it said “Not For Sale,” because of the huge N and the red background, which conjured up a Stop sign in my mind.

NOT For Sale?

NOT For Sale?

Am I crazy or do you see what I mean?

Color and typography to the rescue — this logo needs just a simple fix to be truly inviting to potential buyers!
