Cooking Up Wealth At Your Kitchen Stove

Here’s a wonderful example of good Feng Shui in the kitchen:

mirror over stove for good feng shui

The mirror above the stove brings good Feng Shui into a small apartment kitchen by giving the cook a view of what’s going on behind him or her.

This puts the cook into the Command Position because they can see what’s going on behind them, giving them a sense of safety as they cook — no one can sneak up to spoil the meal!

The reflective window of a microwave above the stove can also serve this purpose in a pinch.

A mirror also reflects the burners on the stove, multiplying these important sources of wealth.

Gas burners are especially auspicious in Feng Shui because the expansive Fire element of the flames creates a flow of strong Chi energy. To get their full benefit make sure all the burners work and that you rotate their use.

And finally, this particular mirror has great Feng Shui, adding a wonderful sense of liveliness and warm vitality to this small kitchen.

How is the Chi flowing in your kitchen?

I think that anything that increases wealth in this economy is a fabulous idea!

Keep your stove clean and use all the burners to keep the good wealth chi flowing!

I love this idea because i cook all of the time. I mean literally i am a crazy avid recreational chef. so it should really have some positive effects. However, i’m wondering if you (or anyone reading) has thoughts on the kind of mirror or ideas for someone who really uses my stove. This potentially could be a mess collector even for a neat freak like me.

      Hi Darcey! Yum!

I recommend a smaller mirror than this one, literally glued to the wall, with no frame at all. This will make it easier to clean on a regular basis.

Any shiny, reflective surface will do, as the point is to make sure you know what’s going on behind you — but a mirror really is best because it can also connect you to people who join you in your kitchen while you cook.

I was liking the idea of mirrors around the stove. Recently I picked up a book by Lillian Too called “Feng Shui Life Planner” at the local library.
She says in the book, (on page 149) ”Mirrors reflecting the stove or cooker are also bad news. I have been warned against this ever since I can remember. It is dangerous to reflect a naked flame as this causes accidents to happen. Reflecting food being cooked in the kitchen is not the same as reflecting the food being served in the dining room, which is very auspicious.”
She further clarifies, ”A mirror that reflects a dining table is said to be beneficial as it reflects food on the table. This is not  to be confused with mirrors that reflect food being cooked, which would be inauspicious.”
So I am confused about what to believe.
    Some clarification would help.

      Hello Prema,
I have never heard that mirrors are inauspicious over stoves; in fact every one of my teachers has taught that mirrors over stoves are very good because the burners signify the action of healthy Chi energy, and also enhance the energy of the cook as he or she creates nutrition for their family.

Mirrors over stoves can also reflect the activity behind the cook, putting them in better control over their environment.

I suggest trying this both ways, with and without the mirror over the stove, and seeing which makes you the most comfortable and creates the best energy in your space.

Hello and thanks for your comment and questions. Keeping a pan in your oven could be a Feng Shui issue if it gets in the way of your cooking, but it sounds as though you use it on a regular basis so I would say it is ok in your case. Using the oven as a kitchen cabinet, where lots of things are stored, would be a bigger problem from a Feng Shui perspective.
