Bad Feng Shui in the Bedroom: Headboards Gone Wrong

Fun with egregiously bad bedroom Feng Shui!

First up, a truly terrible headboard:

This ornate headboard won't make you feel safe.

This ornate headboard won't make you feel safe.

This headboard does not provide you with the “safe haven” you need to sleep well at night. Instead it allows Chi energy to flow right through the headboard and out the windows behind it, taking your nourishing energy with it.

Sheer curtains make the situation even worse, because they provide only a false sense of security.

If your bed absolutely must be against a window, be sure to shield yourself with a good, solid wooden or padded headboard, with light-blocking curtains behind it.

Here’s another crazy example:

Antlers over the bed?

Look out below!

Wow — is this major advertiser really recommending that we get cozy underneath a huge set of heavy antlers??

(maybe you recognize his style ;) )

Sleeping underneath anything so heavy and threatening can be extremely disturbing to your ability to rest comfortably.

Furthermore, such aggressive imagery and colors create an excess of Yang energy, exactly the opposite of what you need to get the best night’s sleep.

What do you think?

By the way, these pictures come from major design magazines — it’s clear you can’t trust them to have your good Chi energy in mind!

The rustic look…can ‘t imagine it’s good feng shui to have dead animal parts in your bedroom either.

Even though the chi flows through the headboard, I’ll take regal over racks any day. lol

Thanks, Julie — given a choice I’d definitely agree with you!

    Bad chi I would say!

Yes — bad chi all around. It’s not the #1 thing on designers’ minds, that’s for sure. Thanks for the comment!

Ann – this is hysterical! You are so right! Thanks, Maureen

    Hi Ann!

The antlers are an especially bad idea if you live on the west coast… unless, of course, you want to be impaled by them during an earthquake!

Thanks everyone for the comments!! Sorry it took me so long to notice them — my blog comments system has changed and it took me awhile to catch up. Stay tuned for more Feng Shui — the good, the bad, and the ugly :)

Wow — I hadn’t even thought of that. In general Feng Shui doesn’t like heavy things over beds — probably for this very reason!
