Have you heard of the wonderful concept of Wabi-Sabi?
It’s the Japanese art of imperfect beauty: those wonderful, funky old things that make a house feel like home.
Here’s a great little example:
This antique tea mug belonged to one of my favorite old aunties, but she never drank out of it because it leaked 🙂
But to me this “imperfectly beautiful” thing seemed to contain the essence of Aunt Jane, so when she died I asked if I could have it to hold some of the essentials in my office. In Feng Shui this kind of thing is perfect for anchoring the idea of Family, too.
Wacky? Wabi-Sabi? Maybe a little of both?
