In Feng Shui your bedroom is considered the #1 most important room in your home, because Feng Shui recognizes that your bedroom needs to nourish you emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Here are 15 questions to ask yourself about the Feng Shui of your master bedroom.
Each question gives you a Feng Shui tip.
A “No” answer tells you the kind of life-affirming Feng Shui adjustment you need to make to bring more positive Chi energy to your bedroom.
- Is there a clutter-free path from your front door all the way to your bedroom?
- Does your bedroom door open and close completely, with no interference?
- Is your bed in the Command Position?
- Do you feel good about the “life history” of your mattress?
- Is your bedroom TV-, home office-, and exercise-equipment free?
- Do you enjoy each photo and piece of art in your bedroom?
- Do you have enough light for reading, relaxing, getting dressed?
- Can you “turn the lights down low”?
- If there are mirrors in your bedroom, can you cover them?
- Is your bedroom clean and well-organized?
- Do the colors and textures in your bedroom make you feel great?
- Do your window coverings block out unwanted light?
- Would you be proud to share your bedroom with a romantic partner?
- Do you feel safe and secure in your room?
- Do you sleep well at night and wake up feeling refreshed?
The more Feng Shui attention you lavish on your master bedroom, the better you will nourish yourself emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Hi Anne – have a question about the bed placement. My bed looks just like your drawing of placement in a bedroom, except my bed is angled into the corner instead of straight along the wall. Does that adversely affect the Feng Shui?
Hi Gayle,
Thanks so much for your great question. When your bed is angled into the corner it’s super-important to make sure you have a headboard plus something large and heavy in back of the bed to anchor the corner.
I’ll take this up in more detail soon in a blog post so stay tuned!
I’ve lived by myself a long time and have a hard time taking the TV out of the bedroom. Is that a huge no no?
Hello,
If there is any other place in your home that you can place your TV, it would be better than your bedroom, especially if you wish to attract a loving relationship into your life. In Feng Shui one of the first things we always recommend is to remove the TV from your bedroom, for many of the reasons I cite in this post and others. I wish you the best and encourage you to move your TV.
Hi Annn.
Thank you for your wonderful website and tips. I have a question specifically about night stands. I have two identical on each side of the bed. They are square thought. Most of the sites I find in the internet talk about “poison arrows” created by furniture(e.g. Dresser) but no one talks about poison arrows created by square night stands (in fact most of the gent shut pics show square night stands). What do you think about that ?
Also , what is your opinion on ceiling fans on the bedroom ?
Thanks
Hello Ana,
Great questions. My favorite remedy for a square nightstand is to put a nice textile over it to soften the poison arrows. For mine I use pieces of lace but you should use a fabric that blends with your décor. I also think ceiling fans are fine – I have one myself – as long as it is not positioned directly over you from your pelvis to your head. Over your legs and below is best. Please use the Search function on this site for my article about ceiling fans, for more information.
