How Can I Protect Myself If My Bed Faces The Door? Three Feng Shui Tips

In Feng Shui, the least desirable bed placement is when the foot of your bed is in a direct line with the doorway.  In this position you are vulnerable to any sources of energy that may come rushing in the door.

The best Feng Shui position for your bed is the Command Position, where you can easily see the door but don’t face it directly.

But what if that ideal placement is just not possible?

One solution is to add a footboard to your bed, but footboards aren’t always ideal for a number of reasons: they can make you feel trapped, there may not be enough space to add one, or maybe they’re just not your style.

Since the idea is to give yourself a sense of safety and security while yousleep, here are three ways to give yourself good Feng Shui when you’re in bed:

"Noren" curtains for your Feng Shui bedroom?

  • Shield yourself by placing a chest filled with heavy blankets at the foot of the bed.
  • Place a low screen between your bed and the door.
  • I especially love Noren curtains or something similar that shield you while providing a partial view of someone approaching.

What do you think? Do you have a sense of security in your bed?

I have exactly this problem with another added. Our room is an ‘L’ shape and the only place for the bed is across from the door. The other problem is the corner of the ‘L’ projects into the room and shoots a poison arrow straight at my husband’s side of the bed.
I moved his dresser perpendicular to the wall to shield from the door and to extend the corner. It works, but I have been thinking that a curtain will do the job better because it is softer and I won’t run into it in the middle of the night! :)

Sounds perfect, Christina! L-shaped rooms are very difficult but it sounds like you’re on your way to the “elegant solution” :)

Okay, what exactly do you mean by “command position”? The last time we rearranged furniture I put it up against the left wall, so when I walk through the door, it’s to the left of me. Should I move it again?

hi, thank you for your web page. my bed faces the door, and really no other option…tiny room, windows on other two walls.  if i use a screen at foot of bed, how high do you recommend screen to be and should it go across the width of bed.
if i use a curtain, or mosquito net, is it okay to be a sheer and sit at the foot of the bed?
