More Bad Feng Shui For Kids’ Bedrooms

When I came across this photo in a magazine recently, I recoiled in horror:

Bad Feng Shui for Kids

Scary!!

Giant animals, aggressive colors, busy patterns: this nursery is almost certainly guaranteed to give the infant twins who sleep here nightmares. Bad Feng Shui indeed.

I wouldn’t recommend it for adults, either ;)

What do YOU think — would you have wanted to grow up with this on your nursery walls?

Wow, I would have to say the only place this may belong is the playroom at a pediatricians office or the zoo! It’s beautiful but pretty busy!

I’m looking forward to reading more posts and tips!

Thank you Christine — the zoo would be a perfect place for this mural ;) -> kids are encouraged to be lively and inquisitive there. But yes — I’m glad this wasn’t MY childhood wallpaper! I’d still be having nightmares….

Ouch that is really not good.

I grew up in a room with one of those very busy Victorian wallpapers all leaves, tendrils, plant pots and whirls in a vivid blue and white.

It was very bad for the concentration and gave no calmness at all. As soon as I got old enough I redecorated it to pastel shades accented with one bright colour. Well it was the 1980′s! It made a huge difference though.

No.Way. I’d never be able to visit the zoo again! When I was a wee thing, my godmother painted a picture of a sad clown for my bedroom. Dark colors, very depressing. I would have nightmares, refuse to go to bed, etc. My parents finally got rid of that monstrosity, but I still hate clowns.

I will be the first to admit, I love Elephants. But that is a bit over the top. Then again, who am I to judge…my nursery walls are white, with nothing on them. I’m not very decor savvy!

Thanks for commenting, Stacey. I understand about not knowing what to hang on the walls, but if you’re interested in some easy ideas for your nursery, let me know. You also might want to check out my video, Feng Shui for the Nursery… maybe you’ll get some ideas there!

This is pretty scary to me as an adult! I can’t imagine what a little one might think. Soft soothing colors with clouds or lambs should be the theme, I think.

Hi Sally — Yes, I couldn’t agree more! Clouds & lambs = heavenly :) Thanks for your comment!

Too busy and drab colors. I love the owl though, so I wouldn’t paint over her.
