Are you restless at night? Do you have trouble falling asleep? Do you wake up feeling tired?

There might be too much going on in your bed’s headboard.

For the best Feng Shui, use a headboard for your bed that doesn’t attract clutter.

headboard with shelvesThe headboard represents the Mountain in Feng Shui, providing you with a solid backing that keeps you feeling secure, all night long.

So an open headboard of any kind just won’t fill the bill.

How solid does this headboard really feel, for example?

Just as they’ve done in the photo, you’d have to place a lot of pillows against it in order to lean back comfortably and really enjoy your bed.

These types of headboard cry out to be filled with all sorts of things that don’t belong anywhere near your head while you sleep: books, family photos, glassware, lighting, alarm clocks and more.

A good headboard is an essential element in a well-designed Feng Shui bedroom, so it’s important to be super-selective about the one you choose.

Does your headboard feel cozy and secure? What steps can you take to make it into a wonderful Feng Shui bed?

Great article! What if I don’t have a headboard, but my bed is against the wall?

Yvette, if you don’t have a headboard you can create the look of one with European Square pillows that create a sense of the solid mountain behind you.

I have a similar headboard with a bookcase but I keep it empty and have pillows against it. Is this sufficient or should i cover it? Please advice.

This sounds like a good solution, Ruby. Covering it with a cloth and then having pillows in front of it would be even better 🙂
