Spotting Feng Shui Challenges In Floor Plans, Part 3

Filed Under: Feng Shui for Your Home Tagged With: Floor Plans & Feng Shui, Missing Bagua Areas, The Bagua Map

In parts 1 & 2 of this series, we oriented this floorplan correctly, and then took a look at the Feng Shui of its unfortunate bathroom locations.

Now in our final look at this luxury apartment, let’s evaluate its Bagua layout and the placement of the Master Bedroom.

1. Bagua Layout

floorplan-missing-areas

Two Bagua sectors are missing: Wealth & Prosperity in the upper-left corner, and most of Fame & Reputation in the center-top. (Learn more about the Feng Shui Bagua Map here.)

The residents of this home need to make serious Feng Shui adjustments to make up for these missing sectors.

A strategic Feng Shui use of mirrors could symbolically expand the space, while Chi-energizing objects may also be necessary to create positive energy here.

2. Master Bedroom Placement
Situated at the very front of the home next to the front door, the location of this Master Bedroom is also inauspicious from a Feng Shui perspective.

This is considered the least safe bedroom location in the home from a Feng Shui point of view. It ought to be remedied right away.

Master bedrooms belong at the back of a home, ideally in the Relationship sector of the Bagua.

When your bedroom is in the back of your home, you feel the most safe, secure and relaxed. Read why this is so in my post about why the Bagua is set up the way it is.

One essential Feng Shui adjustment these residents can make to improve their sense of safety and intimacy immediately is to hang bells on their front door which alert them when anyone enters or leaves the apartment.

This is the last installment in my series about how to evaluate a floor plan from a Feng Shui perspective.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this important Feng Shui skill.

I really enjoyed  this post.. and I agree with your points on it. I have practiced Feng Shui for many years, and am not an ‘ expert’, just a woman that  realizes the benefits of good Feng Shui.

I’m so glad the post made sense to you. You can tell so much about what may be going on in a person’s life by their floorplan!

I am going to be moving into a new apartment soon. The front door faces east. The floor plan is square and open. The bedrooms are located on the left side of the apartment as you walk in. They are in the knowledge & self-cultivation area and the abundance & prosperity area with the bathroom in-between in the new beginnings area. I thought I had it all figured out.. I was going to use the knowledge & self-cultivation area for my bedroom and the abundance & prosperity area for my office but then I read what you said about the bedroom being in the back of the house. Would it really upset my Feng Shui if I chose to arrange my rooms this way or should I switch them?

Hello and thanks for this great question. From a Feng Shui perspective the bedroom is always better at the back of a home, all things being equal, because it is a safer place to be. Of course it’s also a lovely place to anchor Wealth/Abundance, while an office in Knowledge makes good positioning as well. I don’t know what impact it would have on you to leave your arrangement as is; I can only suggest that you try it and if you feel uncomfortable for any reason, switch the rooms’ placement sometime down the road.
