In a previous post, Feng Shui and Floor Plans, you read about how missing bagua areas can affect the Feng Shui of a space.
As a followup to that post I received many questions about how to deal with missing areas of the Bagua.
In the apartment above, two Bagua areas are affected: Wealth and Fame & Reputation, in the upper left and center, respectively.
Missing Bagua areas are an issue in Feng Shui because
- Human instinct is most satisfied with “complete” shapes, such as squares or rectangles. You instinctively feel a sense of imperfection when your environment is irregularly-shaped, and over time this sense that something is missing has a negative affect upon your everyday life.
- The Bagua Map anchors every important part of your life in your space, so you’re best off making sure that every area of your life is represented so that it can be enhanced.
If the interior of your home is missing a Bagua area, the first thing to do is see what you can do to “complete the Bagua” shape outside of the building itself.
For example, do you have a terrace or lawn outside where you can complete the Bagua shape? If so, add lights or tall poles with banners or flags attached to lift the energy of the missing sectors, and give you a sense of completion.
Here’s more information about compensating for a missing Wealth area, specifically.
