Feng Shui Bedroom Artwork: Do’s & Don’ts

Feng Shui asks you to think about the images you set in front of yourself every day, because those are the images that imprint themselves upon your heart and mind.

For example, here are a few less-than-ideal paintings and photos I’ve seen in the homes of clients who are trying to attract a healthy relationship.

Picasso -- Blue Nude painting

If you are looking to attract romance I definitely advise against decorating with art that depicts a lone woman, hanging her head and with her back against the world.

Picasso -- The Old Guitarist painting

Likewise this forlorn and skeletal guitar player transmits a message of loneliness and scarcity every time you look at him.

In general you want to avoid artwork that depicts a “single” image. When you’re seeking a happy relationship, these pieces of art may send a negative message to potential romantic partners who visit your home.

Similarly, here is a poster showing Jennifer Lopez aiming her gun at her lover, George Clooney, in the movie “Out Of Sight.”

This is not just a relationship-destroying image. In the case where I actually saw this fire-y and violent poster in a client’s bedroom, the husband was suffering from tremendous health problems!

Things began to improve as soon as they removed it.

The messages you reinforce to yourself in your environment become the signals you internalize and send out to the world.

It is much better from a Feng Shui point of view to use artwork like this in your space:

This fresh and vital image of two flowers is not too flowery, yet it transmits a positive message of hope, growth and togetherness all at once.

Here’s a different way to go:

Hanging a pair of photos that relate to one another like this conveys a message of belonging and relationship, while enriching your environment with beautiful art.

How do you like the “relationship imagery” you have around you? Is it time for a change?

Yikes! I can’t believe those art pieces were in bedrooms. I have seen a lot of single woman images, but nothing as dark or violent as those.
