Use Feng Shui Rituals To Enhance A Wedding Ceremony

Are you getting married, or helping someone get ready for their Big Day?

As lovely as most weddings are, they can be times of great stress.  So I’m often asked how Feng Shui can help create a happier wedding experience for one and all.

Feng Shui for weddings makes wonderful sense because it adds a beautiful degree of harmony and balance to everything it touches.

From the flow of preparation to the ceremony itself, Feng Shui brings healthy Chi energy to a wedding while honoring the relationship that it celebrates and seals.

Here are a few suggestions for using Feng Shui rituals to enhance any wedding ceremony, large or small.

While Feng Shui is not a religion in any way, its rituals bring transcendence and calm to any circumstance.

Feng Shui rituals you might consider include:

  • A short visualization before the ceremony to bring the participants into a calm appreciation of the present moment. A Feng Shui consultant or other professional leads each member of the couple through the visualization to give them a sense of strength and serenity.
  • A moment of silent meditation during the ceremony for everyone witnessing the vows, to honor the beauty of the two lives being joined.
  • The ringing of bells after the ceremony to create a sense of clarity and joy as the couple embarks on their new life together.

More to come soon on other ways to bring the beauty of Feng Shui into a wedding, from colors to Chi enhancers and more.

    So glad it’s helpful, Gay!

Great advice, Ann. I remember at my wedding nearly 15 years ago, someone advised us to really be in the moment, because it passes so quickly. Your tips are specific ways to be in the moment, which is so helpful.

Nice! Thanks so much Marcia for this great insight and kind words. So much of life’s pleasure is about being in the moment!

I received the same advice Marcia did at my wedding.  For me, one of the keys to feeling fully present during the ceremony was that after the rehearsal I actively released all control of the events. That release, in combination with the moment of silence our Rabbi led (which I never thought of as Feng Shui until I read your post!) made it possible for me to remember that special event all these years later (even though some days it’s hard for me to remember what happened a few hours ago.)  Thank you for sharing these tips.  They apply far beyond weddings.

Wow, so powerful, Debra! I think of Feng Shui as being “the power of now for your space,” so all these ways of being in the moment mean we’re in a positive place no matter what the situation. I get shivers thinking of your moment of silence after the ceremony. Thanks for sharing.

Several of my friends officiate at weddings. This will be good to pass along.

Thanks for passing it on to your friends, Susan. I hope it adds some good Chi energy to their ceremonies!
