Fall is on its way, can you feel it? There’s a clear, crisp freshness in the air, and it seems once again as though all things are possible.
Autumn is associated with the Metal element in Feng Shui, representing your lungs, the vital organs that bring new energy into your body while helping you let go of the old and stale.
Metal also represents your nose and sense of smell, often your first indicator when change is in the air. Your nose sometimes tells you everything you need to know about the conditions of any environment, for better or for worse.
Inhale through your nose and deep into your lungs to take in this fresh, positive Chi, then let your breath out slowly and fully to expel toxins that may have built up over the hot summer months.
Metal energy also gives you a lift as you get organized for the active days ahead, whether you’re settling in after summer travels, returning to school, preparing for the fall and winter holidays or whatever new energy this season brings into your life.
Here are a few more ideas for taking advantage of Metal energy this fall:
- Take a fresh look at closets and cabinets, and clear out old, broken or otherwise unnecessary stuff.
- Give your home or office the “smell test.” Is it time to give your space a big dose of fresh air? Open all the windows and doors on a beautiful clear day to give your space a dose of Metal Chi.
- Sharpen up your skills in the area of your choice. This fall, for example, I’ve decided to take a collage-making class, my first art class in many years. (And incidentally I’ll be using an x-acto knife, the ultimate in sharp, Metal element tools!)
Are you taking advantage of Fall to clear out the old and unnecessary? What kinds of new energy are you making room for this season?
