For good bedroom Feng Shui and the happier life that comes along with it, one of the most important things to get right is the balance of Yin and Yang in your bedroom.
Yin and Yang nourish you in different, equally necessary ways as the energetic qualities of Yin, the feminine principle interact with its complementary opposite, the masculine energy of Yang.
For the best Feng Shui, it’s up to you to create the ideal Yin/Yang balance for each individual room in your home, depending on its role in your life.
To create balance Yin and Yang in a way that supports you best, you must first identify a room’s purpose in your life. In Feng Shui this concept is called its Primary Purpose.
The Primary Purpose of every Master Bedroom is to help you get the rest you need, of course, but our busy world often gives short shrift to the idea of true relaxation, so purpose of the bedroom is often neglected! Sad but true.
The good news is that this makes it easy figure out where to start: once you start to create a room that provides the feeling of sanctuary you desire, your bedroom will start naturally to take on the Yin character that is most desirable in a bedroom.
In the bedroom, Feng Shui calls for a balance of Yin & Yang that leans more towards Yin.
Necessary Yin elements in your bedroom might include soft colors and touchable textures, lighting you can adjust to be just as low as you like, the cozy feeling that comes with a smaller room and lower ceiling, and so on.
In fact in my own home I chose the smaller of two rooms for our master bedroom, mostly because the Yin energy feels so welcoming and safe.
Yang energy should not be neglected, however — you want your bedroom to feel nurturing but not completely asleep! So use lighting that can be turned up when you need it, bright, warm colors as accents, and artwork that brings masculine energy into the room.
How are you balancing the energies in your bedroom?
