The holidays are upon us, and with them comes the winter solstice – the darkest days of the year.

As we enter the long nights that characterize the Water element (here in the northern hemisphere) it’s important to maintain a sense of balance and hope with bright reminders of Fire energy around your home.

Here are a few Feng Shui holiday decorating ideas that bring the Fire element into your life as you await the time when lighter days return.

1. Outside your home, here’s a lovely and simple way to warmly welcome friends and family during the dark nights of the season.

Simple bare branches, draped with lights that look like snow, equals seasonal beauty and Feng Shui harmony in one happy package. (Photo Credit: sacramentopress.com)

2. Inside, I love this idea for paper snowflakes — cut them out of bright orange paper for a cheery change of pace!

3. Finally, here’s a cozy way to decorate with things you may already have. Use a mix of ornaments old and new to create a fun centerpiece that picks up the light and Fire-y energy all around your home.

Rather than decorating the “same old way” this holiday season, why not use Feng Shui to bring a sense of intention, balance and harmony to your décor?
Here are my best Feng Shui holiday tips to keep your mood bright, light and festive. Enjoy!
1. Prepare Your Spa… read more »

You May Also Like:

Keep Your Feng Shui Balance At Holiday-Time

Enriching Your Holidays with Feng Shui

Enhance Your Holidays With Feng Shui – My Guest Post…

Light Up Your Holidays With Feng Shui Decor

Happy Holidays from Open Spaces Feng Shui!

Rather than decorating the “same old way” this holiday season, why not use Feng Shui to bring a sense of intention, balance and harmony to your décor?

Here are my best Feng Shui holiday tips to keep your mood bright, light and festive. Enjoy!

1. Prepare Your Space

* Clear the decks, focusing special effort to create a welcoming front entry. Don’t forget the garage, if that’s where you enter your home.

* Take a good Feng Shui look at your kitchen to make sure the heart and hearth of your home has room enough for holiday socializing.

* Open up space by removing excess furniture, especially after you’ve started filling your home with seasonal decor. Chi energy will flow freely, and guests feel welcome to move about and mingle.

2. Place your holiday tree in the Bagua area you want to enhance.
If you’re setting up a tree or other major holiday focal point, amplify your intentions by placing it in the Bagua area you’d like to enhance in the year ahead.

For example, place your tree in the Prosperity area of your living room and add purple and sparkly gold ornaments.

For more information about using this essential Feng Shui tool, please refer to my guide to the Feng Shui Bagua Map.

3. Decorate and enhance your space with intention.
As you decorate your home this year, remember to place things with strong and heartfelt intentions for the transformations you wish to invite.

For example, Feng Shui’s Five Elements instantly add balance, harmony and intention to any decorative scheme.

* Create vitality with Wood Element items like greenery and décor that draws the eye upwards.

* Stimulate your emotional life with the Fire element. Sparkly lights and red décor will light up your space with excitement and pleasure to the eye.

* Add brilliance and strength with Metal in shiny metallic ornaments and tableware.

* Nourish yourself and your space with the Earth element, which asks that you don’t “over-decorate.” Leave some spaces ornament-free and open, use light colors to give the eye a rest, and utilize earthenware pottery to soften the atmosphere.

* Add a spiritual, contemplative element with Water. Flowing ribbons and fabrics, dark colors and sinuous patterns all provide a sense of depth and peace that’s essential to the season.

4. Relax and Enjoy!
Don’t forget to make a peaceful sanctuary for yourself in your bedroom, the most important room of all especially at this busy and social time of year.

Open your doors and windows occasionally to keep the atmosphere lively and fresh. This is an especially good idea after the festivities have run their course to help you regain your sense of balance and peace.

Remember: The greater the balance in your home, the greater the possibility for harmony and joy.

If you’re feeling stuck or looking for ways to increase the feeling of joy in your during the holiday season, don’t hesitate to schedule a Feng Shui consultation with me today.

I would love to help you move forward into a life of intention and possibility.

What’s the most important room in your house at holiday time?

Your kitchen, of course!

Even if you’re not cooking, your kitchen symbolizes your abundance and fortunate blessings at this special time of year.

The holidays are a perfect moment to do a Feng Shui “Chi Checkup” in your kitchen to make sure you’re empowering Health and Wealth energy in your home.

This photo of a kitchen with wonderful Feng Shui is a great place to start:

What gives this kitchen good Feng Shui?

Chi energy can flow because the surfaces are largely clutter-free (without being sterile).

The stove is in the Command Position, so the cook can participate in the room’s social activity without being distracted from the task at hand.

The skylight and window provide wonderful natural light during the daytime, and the room appears to have sufficient lighting for after dark as well.

There’s a wonderful mix of colors, shapes and textures in this kitchen, so all five of Feng Shui’s elements are present in various forms.

The flowers on the kitchen island contribute a sense of freshness, vitality and warmth.

I hope this charming kitchen will give you some ideas for “lighting up” your own kitchen with Feng Shui, so you can be open to all the warmth and abundance the holidays have to offer.

Enjoy!
