It’s also the “unofficial” start to the holidays over the next few weeks.

This year has been one of personal abundance for which I am most grateful.  I hope you too have a list of the things you feel the most gratitude for from this past year.

As we enter the long nights that characterize the Water element (here in the northern hemisphere) it’s important to maintain a sense of balance and hope with bright reminders of Fire energy around your home.

Here are my best Feng Shui holiday tips to keep your mood bright, light and festive. Enjoy!

1. Prepare Your Space

* Clear the decks, focusing special effort to create a welcoming front entry. Don’t forget the garage, if that’s where you enter your home.

* Take a good Feng Shui look at your kitchen to make sure the heart and hearth of your home has room enough for holiday socializing.

* Open up space by removing excess furniture, especially after you’ve started filling your home with seasonal decor. Chi energy will flow freely, and guests feel welcome to move about and mingle.

2. Place your holiday tree in the Bagua area you want to enhance.
If you’re setting up a tree or other major holiday focal point, amplify your intentions by placing it in the Bagua area you’d like to enhance in the year ahead.

For example, place your tree in the Prosperity area of your living room and add purple and sparkly gold ornaments.

3. Decorate and enhance your space with intention.
As you decorate your home this year, remember to place things with strong and heartfelt intentions for the transformations you wish to invite.

For example, Feng Shui’s Five Elements instantly add balance, harmony and intention to any decorative scheme.

* Create vitality with Wood Element items like greenery and décor that draws the eye upwards.

* Stimulate your emotional life with the Fire element. Sparkly lights and red décor will light up your space with excitement and pleasure to the eye.

* Add brilliance and strength with Metal in shiny metallic ornaments and tableware.
