There are plenty of examples out there of bedrooms with “bad Feng Shui,” but what gives a bedroom good Feng Shui?
Here’s a beautiful example of the ingredients that create good bedroom Feng Shui:

- This room is clearly about relaxation — and very possibly, romance. There is nothing here to distract from the Primary Purpose of the room.
- The room’s colors are soft but not monotonous — I might trade the bed’s white throw blanket for a warmer color to add a little more Fire energy, but that’s about it.
- The artwork above the bed is an interesting image of a woman with flowers that adds vitality to the room.
- The windows have light-blocking curtains that close, a key to privacy and a good night’s sleep.
- The pair of chairs by the window adds “couples energy” to the room while encouraging conversation and connection between the people who sleep here.
- The room is clutter-free.
- I don’t see any mirrors at all!
Does this luxurious but comfy bedroom appeal to you? Does it give you ideas for your own room?
What else gives it good Feng Shui, that I’ve overlooked?

What else? View of nature…as opposed to, say, a parking lot.
LOL — yes, you’re SO right, Hazel. Thanks for pointing that out; it adds so much to the great feeling in the room.
Hello Ann – Good post, and yes, very serene and inviting room! I’d add that the tall healthy plant in the corner contributes to the good Feng Shui here. I also read your post about plants in the bedroom, and feel it really does depend. In this particular case, considering the size of the room, I think the plant makes a big difference and would be missed if it were removed.
Thank you Cory. In this case I totally agree with you. The fact that the plant is out of the way of the bed, and in fact you might not even be able to see it from the bed, also makes a difference. Please see Aroon’s comment on my “Plants” post if you’re interested in more insight on this.
I would remove the picture of a single person hanging over the bed which could fall on the sleeping people. Also I would add sheer curtains to the large window for privacy during the day.
Hi – I have my bed placed parallelly in between the door and the window. Can’t move it to other place also. Though the bed is far from the door but more close to the window. Can you please suggest me any Feng shui cure?
Hello Nadia,
The biggest issue here is that you are in the direct line of Chi (from the doorway) when you are in bed. The Feng Shui adjustment is to place a good-sized bedside table with a lamp on it next to your bed to protect you from that energy. You will sleep better at night.
I like to have a full length mirror, if I shouldn’t have it in the bedroom, and it’s too large for the WIR, where should I put it? Thanks
Hello Jodie,
It is fine to put it on the back of a closet door in your bedroom, so that you do not see it when you are sleeping.
