Indoors or Out, Refresh Your Feng Shui Garden For Spring

Filed Under: Garden & Outdoor Feng Shui Tagged With: Feng Shui and Nature, Feng Shui and Plants, I Ching, New Beginnings, The Bagua Map

‘Tis the season of New Beginnings in Feng Shui, when the earth starts its cycle of rebirth.

Springtime brings changing weather and nourishing rainstorms, which you can see in the I Ching symbol for Thunder in the New Beginnings area of the Bagua map.

As newly planted seedlings break through and trees and shrubs brighten the lengthening days with their soft greenery, it’s also time for you to to attend to your own garden.

Indoors or out, now’s the time to

  • Toss out weak and dead plants, replacing them with the great life-force energy of healthy new ones.
  • Let go of dried flower arrangements and sculptural branches that have dried out over the winter.
  • Refresh or completely replace your room scents and potpourri (dried flower petals = a Feng Shui no-no).
  • Don’t have a green thumb? Get a beautiful artificial flower arrangement, or hang a small picture of healthy plants in your New Beginnings sector.

Happy Spring!

That is one of the things I miss most living in New York City is the lack of greenery. I usually hold on to old flowers. But I am looking for new beginnings so it does make sense to throw them away. Hadn’t thought about that til reading your post. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks Jalanda — tossing out your dried out flowers will definitely lift the energy of your space, and make room for fabulous new opportunities to come in!

This is great Ann.  My husband and I will start planting our little garden in Brooklyn shortly so I appreciate the inspiration!

hi Ann, I love reading your articles, here in Ottawa ON there is still a ton of snow, however, I got my kids to shovel it all over the fence. I already have some green grass, and my plants are starting to sprout through. I am looking so forward to sitting in my garden. And yes, I have ditched all all old dried flowers and I’m ready to rejoice with new spring flowers. I’m already feeling the new energy in my life.

Thank you for writing, Jacqueline! Smart move to make the snow “disappear” the way you did ;)) Spring is definitely a long time coming this year but just think how much we have to look forward to!
